Alexandra Hootnick—Studio Manager/Assistant
Before joining Jesse’s team, Alexandra (Allie) taught 2nd grade as part of the Teach for America Bay Area corps. She primarily decided to pursue multimedia journalism in order to increase communication and awareness in education and began her graduate studies at the S.I. Newhouse School of Communications. During this time she worked as a staff photographer for the school’s online publication, The News House, and participated in the 2010 Fall Workshop in Auburn.
She graduated from the University of Virginia with a psychology major and Spanish minor, and has lived in the Galápagos Islands and Spain in addition to traveling to over 20 countries. Her foremost goals include learning Russian, HTML code and doing a photography circuit of South America.
Mike Roy—Multimedia Collaborator
Mike Roy is a freelance visual journalist and multimedia producer working with several editorial and corporate clients. Mike’s previous experience includes staff photographer at The Journal News in White Plains, N.Y., and staff photographer/multimedia producer at The Monitor in McAllen, T.X.. His freelance work has appeared in the Bergen Record, The Miami Herald, ESPN the Magazine, USA Today, MSG Network and Branded News, among other news and corporate clients. In 2006, he was named “Photographer of the Year” by the Houston Press Club, and was named a finalist at the Digital Edge Awards for most innovative multimedia storytelling. In 2005, he won first place in the Best of Photojournalism awards for Sports Feature for work produced as a graduate student interning at The Post-Standard.
Andrew Maclean—Multimedia Collaborator
Andrew Maclean is an award-winning multimedia producer and photographer living in Brooklyn, NY. Currently he is the multimedia producer at Inc.com in the financial district of Manhattan.
Recently he finished his graduate course work in multimedia production at Syracuse University and was a production intern at MediaStorm where, among other projects, he helped work on the Emmy-nominated project, “Undesired”.
He has taught multimedia and photography at Syracuse University, the International Center of Photography in New York City and to locals in the central African country of Chad for National Geographic.
He strives to work on projects and stories about the things that are important to each of us and to explore the questions and motivations for the things in our lives.
